measurements for front suspension and subframe

- Suspension Parts and Subframe Attachment
Planning to make some modifications on your car then here is a basic rule of thumb that you can use when taking measurements for front suspension and subframe. When measuring the sub frame the standard approach is to measure from the front center to the rear wheels on each side. Remember before you do any cutting it is best to do a mock up with the sub-frame, including the a-arms and with all the steering linkage attached.
Another approach is to adjust the tie rods so that you get zero toe in the linkage, as well as, zero camber on the spindles. Use a straight edge to mark across the top of the frame and pin point the center line of the spindles and then make your mark at that point, which will be the basis point for the new suspension.
One more approach that is very simple for measuring suspension would be to start at the bottom edge of the wheel lip and then measure straight up through the wheels center stopping at the painted edge of your fender. This method is recommended because it eliminates any difference that could arise in the aspect ratio of the tire, like inflation or tire size variances.
