Another first was realized in 1999 when Lowe’s officially bought the naming rights to the superspeedway and made it the first race complex in the U.S. to have a corporate sponsor.
The Superspeedway is a 1.5 mile quad oval with a fan capacity of 165,000. The facility also has a 2.25 mile infield road course that includes a .6 mile kart course, a .25 mile oval using part of the front stretch and pit road, and a .2 mile oval outside turn three. In 1991 a .6 mile oval was built in between the front stretch and pit road.
