jr drag racing league

NHRA OReilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League
If your child has an interest in the NHRA than maybe the jr drag racing league is the perfect place to get them started in racing. JDRL is open to anyone, but kids do have to be between 8 and 17 years of age in order to compete. In this league drivers race a smaller scale version of the nhra dragsters, which are half the size and powered by a 5hp engine that can reach speeds topping 85 mph.
Drivers complete runs on a track that is 1/8th of a mile, much shorter than the 1/4 mile of the professional. JDRL organizes nearly 4,000 drivers with about 25% of the members being females. There are about 130 tracks in North America that sponsor jr. drag racing programs and the annual fee for drivers is only $25. Other costs include helmet, clothing and on average about $3,000 is what it will take to purchase a Jr. Dragster.
