Some what of a flat race track by American standards but heavily banked by Europeans, indianapolis motor speedway is a 2.5 mile rectangular oval track. The race course hasn’t changed since its original construction and also incorporates a 2.6 mile grand prix road course and a 2.6 mile motorcycle road course as part of its race facilities. 

Indianapolis Motor Speedway spans an area covering over 559 acres with a fan capacity some where around 400,000 who flock to the race track each year to cheer on their favorite drivers from the IRL IndyCar, Nascar and FIM MotoGP series. In 1975 the track was put on the National Register of Historic Places and eventually it was proclaimed a National Historic Landmark in 1987 and as of today is the only automotive related site that can lay claim to this recognition.
