You man not have known, but husqvarna motorcycles motocross division has a long and prestigious history. The company manufactures motocross, enduro and supermoto motorcycles. Husqvarna began making motor bikes around 1903 in Huskvarna, Sweden as a part of the Husqvarna armament firm which was responsible for supplying the Swedish army with rifles. The now conducts its business out of Varese, Italy.
In July of 2007 BMW bought the motorcycle manufacturer for around 93 million euros. BMW Motorrad has plans to continue running Husqvarna Motorcycles as a independent entity. Any and all research & development, sales and production responsibilities, as well as the current workforce, are remaining where they are in there present location at the Varese plant.
