Located in Dover, Delaware the now dover international speedway went by the name Dover Downs International Speedway up  until 2001. From 1969, when the facility opened, up until today has saw Dover go through many changes, which makes sense when you find out that the track was designed, from the very beginning, to run horse races and motorsport events. In 1995 Dover Downs Speedway became the first concrete paved superspeedway on the Nascar race circuit and the introduction of Downs Slots was opened to the public.

2002 brought the official change in name too Dover International Speedway and the gaming side of the complex is separated from the racing, which includes harness racing, slot machines and a newly built hotel. All the gaming facilities from this point would operate under the signature name Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

In 2004 dover race facility opened The Monster Bridge to the fans: a first of its kind glass enclosed bridge extending over the track at turn 3 that is capable of seating 56 fans and providing arguably the most unique view in racing. But in case you never have the opportunity to sit in the bridge, don’t worry because the track has a fan capacity of 135,000 which is more than a enough room for you to get a ticket to one of the Nascar Sprint, Nationwide, Busch or Craftsman Truck Series races.

Speeding into 2007 and 08 management is in the process of ongoing capital improvement plans know as Monster Makeover Phases I and II. 2008 also will ushers in the celebration of Dover’s 40th anniversary making every race even more significant from a historical standpoint.
