One of the youngest race facilities in the Nascar circuit, chicagoland speedway began its inaugural season in 2001 and has become a popular draw for race fans. 

Chicagoland is labeled a D-shaped oval race track but actually the course is one continuous curve that stretches 1.5 miles in length.  The speedway has a fan capacity of 75,000 and routinely sells out major race events months in advance.  The speedway is also one of only ten Sprint Cup facilities that has the ability to run race under the lights during night.
