2009 mazda 6 test drive

A reputation for being too small and underpowered in comparison too the Camry and Accord, the 2009 mazda 6 test drive plans to change this completely.

The new Mazda 6 will be 193.7 in. in length, which is longer than its predecessors.  It also will sport a 109.8 in wheelbase that is 4.5 in. longer than past designs.  The end result is more cabin space to stretch out your legs and more room in the trunk, all of this come with a slight increase in the total weight of the car by 200lbs.

To move this heavier vehicle Mazda also bump up the four cylinder and V6 power base.  The 2.5 liter inline 4 now pushes out a 170hp and 167lb.ft. of torque, while the V6 showcases a 3.7 liter engine pushing out a whopping 272 hp and 269lb.ft. of torque. This equates to 21 mpg city and 29 mpg hwy for the 4 cylinder and 17 mpg city and 25 mpg hwy for the V6.

Mazda also focused there attentions on reducing the noise and vibration output by stiffening the cabin area ( 30% more rigid) and making adjustments at the door seals and sunroof in order to decrease the wind noise that was leaking in on previous models

The chassis wasn’t left out either, many improvements were made there as well.  So much so, that the front wheels on this 2009 Mazda now turn nearly 5 degrees more than last year, which will give you a tighter turning radius by over 3 ft.

The new 6 boast some great features also: stability control, side and curtain airbags, traction control, tire pressure monitoring and anti lock brakes coming on all models and this is just to name a few.  The goal is not only to make the 6 more of an experience to drive but to make it extremely safe for you as well.

It appears that the new Mazda 6 definitely delivers, the feed back from nearly all the test drives reveals a car that will give you light and responsive steering, braking that is quick to the pedal and a much quieter drive when you are behind the wheel, no matter what the speed is.
