Built in 1947 martinsville speedway was first designed as a dirt track before Nascar came into being. But following its inception Nascar held there sixth race at martinsville motor speedway, called “Strictly Stock” later on it became the Sprint Cup Series. In ‘04 the track was sold to International Speedway Corp.
